Musebox #2 [CLOSED]

Who: Holiday and Six
What: Being STUPID AWKWARD with the hope of some fluff
When: week after #1
Where: Providence HQ
Warnings: Spoilers for "Six Minus Six" up in here.

She had to get this over with. After the first three days (two of which, she was awake for the entire time), she had known that she was right in the first place. There was nothing she could do. It was over. He probably really was gone.

To know anything for certain, there were still some pieces that she was missing... Pieces that only Six had.

After a firm peptalk, she decided to give him a call or something. Beep his communicator or... something. Just as she was about to do it, though, her face met her hands again. How could she do this to him? First of all, she hadn't so much as seen the man since.... whatever his last visit was. Second, she couldn't turn around again and tell him that she wanted the old Six back. She did, but she by no means wanted to force it out of him against his will.

... She still didn't know what he wanted with his life. She knew he wanted the other Six to come back, but was that only for them or was that for him, too?

She sighed. She needed to do this. You can do this... She was so tired and it was already getting late. Maybe he'd be asleep...

AHA! LEAVE A MESSAGE. Brilliant. Sort of.

Alright, after another sigh, she leaves a message on his comm-link. "Six, if you're willing, there's some more tests I'd like to run on you. Only if you're up for it, though. Just come by at any time." And she killed the feed.

And yeah, any time was fine. She was going to be up for a while.
sixthdeadliest: Pick up, darn it! (Communicator)

[personal profile] sixthdeadliest 2011-10-20 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Six had automatically answered the moment his communicator had beeped. However, she'd spoken and hung up before he could say anything.

He sighed, lowering his hand and staring at his bedroom floor. He hadn't been sleeping well since the incident. He was so tired that even the frustration failed to get more than a flare up.

He put the sunglasses in place as he reached up to touch his communicator, signalling her. Might as well get it over with.

"I'm on my way."

It took him a minute to stand up and compose himself enough to leave his quarters.

[identity profile] doc-holi.livejournal.com 2011-10-20 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
She surprised to hear his reply so quickly... Why wasn't he asleep at this hour, anyway? She almost groaned.

Yes, she wanted to see him, but... she didn't know how to handle it once she did. Maybe if she just kept her mouth shut, things would work out a little better... but if she didn't tell him something, he was just going to ruin whatever life he had.

She sighed, getting things ready for when he showed up.
sixthdeadliest: (Leaning against a wall)

[personal profile] sixthdeadliest 2011-10-20 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
When he walked up to the lab, he was largely calm and composed. Practice made perfect, it seemed. He almost had the look and sound of his other self down. Even adjusting to the "magna blades" was going well.

He hesitated at the door, hand reaching out towards the chime. He paused before pushing it. It was now or never. And claiming that he wasn't feeling well and heading back to bed wasn't an option when he was trying to avoid a doctor.

[identity profile] doc-holi.livejournal.com 2011-10-20 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
That bzzzz again. It must've been him.

Alright, Holiday, deep breath. You're mature enough to handle this. You shouldn't be FREAKING TERRIFIED. He's just a patient that you need to take another look at. That's all.

Just... another patient.

She stopped what she was doing to walk over to the door. Deep breath. Slow. In. Out. Good. She clicked the door open to look at him. She... had no idea what to say... but at least she was composed a little better than last time. Tired, but... composed.

"This isn't a bad time?"

Start off easy.
sixthdeadliest: (Leaning against a wall)

[personal profile] sixthdeadliest 2011-10-20 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
He shook his head. "I wouldn't have come if it was."

He slid past her and into the lab. He glanced at the chair and silently hoped for something other than the Rorschach tests and the electrodes. He really wasn't in the mood to talk.

[identity profile] doc-holi.livejournal.com 2011-10-20 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
She closes her eyes as he just slips on past her.

"I was wanting to get in an MRI, if that's alright with you. If not, I had some others planned," she told him quietly and professionally, walking back to the desk and finishing up what she already was getting ready.
sixthdeadliest: One... (Sad)

[personal profile] sixthdeadliest 2011-10-20 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
"That's perfect."

He sat down on the edge of the table that would be pulled into the machine. He picked up the headphones, preparing to put them on his ears. MRIs tended to be noisy and take a while. It would be a welcome distraction.

He didn't look at her. To be honest, he'd been avoiding looking at her since the beginning. He didn't want to see her doing the same.

Despite what she'd said a week ago, she clearly still wanted her Six back. At least he could try and give him to her.

[identity profile] doc-holi.livejournal.com 2011-10-20 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
She walked back over to him, glancing at him every few seconds, trying to gauge something.

Oh, she could gauge it, alright.

Holiday internally sighed, before fully turning her attention to him. She... didn't want to say it and, honestly, she was half asleep, so she held out her hand.

"... Sorry."
sixthdeadliest: Don't get used to it. (No sunglasses (sad))

[personal profile] sixthdeadliest 2011-10-20 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Movement out of the corner of his eye drew his attention. He looked to see her hand reaching out to him.

Oh. Right. Magnetic Resonance Imaging involved powerful magnets.

He stood up and walked a few feet away. Then he removed his swords and their holders, lying them carefully on the ground. Watch, wallet, shuriken, that knife in his shoe, every hidden weapon he had on him, all were set down on the floor with his swords.

He hesitated for a moment before finally removing his sunglasses, setting them down on top of the pile. He rubbed at his eyes for a moment before retreating back to the MRI machine and sitting down on it again.

She was probably going to notice the dark rings around his eyes. He pretended they weren't there, hoping she'd take a hint not to bring them up.

[identity profile] doc-holi.livejournal.com 2011-10-20 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
She frowned sadly as he just... walked and did it all himself. Figures. And no, she doesn't call any attention to his dark eyes. She's surprised by them, but he said nothing on the bag's under her eyes she had been trying to hide, so she won't either.

She just wonders if it were her fault. Probably so.

After a beat of silence between the two, she walks over to the controls. "Alright, let's get started," she tells him, getting it ready.
sixthdeadliest: Don't get used to it. (No sunglasses (sad))

[personal profile] sixthdeadliest 2011-10-20 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
He put the headphones on, holding one of them away from his ear for a moment. "I hope you have something other than that junk Rex listens to for these."

He lied back and took a breath. He was going to have to hold as still as possible for this. Hopefully, she wouldn't need to use any contrast. It always left a funny taste in his mouth.

[identity profile] doc-holi.livejournal.com 2011-10-20 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
She gave half of a smirk to that before it vanished. "Don't worry. I'm pretty sure most of your taste in music hasn't changed all that much."

She'll turn that on once things were going. The MRI whirred to life.

"You ready?" Nope, no contrast. She just wanted a regular scan for now... at least.
sixthdeadliest: Don't get used to it. (No sunglasses (sad))

[personal profile] sixthdeadliest 2011-10-20 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Let's hope not," he muttered.

Louder, he said, "Ready."

He closed his eyes. Well, here went everything, he supposed.

Dunno what kind of music Six would like. >> You could link something or we'll talk later.

[identity profile] doc-holi.livejournal.com 2011-10-20 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
With that, she nodded and started up the machine, the table already pulling him in.

Holiday let out a breath of air she didn't know she was holding, while she let the machine whirr to life for a second or so. Things were running good so far.
sixthdeadliest: Don't get used to it. (No sunglasses (sad))

[personal profile] sixthdeadliest 2011-10-21 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Dobie Gray met his ears just as the machine started, blocking out the periodic banging from the magnet.

Give me the Beach Boys and free my soul. I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away...

Six wondered if the other Six had set up the playlist on purpose to start off with that particular song or if it had been a haphazard collection of songs that he happened to like just like he himself did.

He took calming breaths through his nose. Even with the music, he could hear the periodic rattle and thump from the MRI. Holding perfectly still wasn't fun for any length of time, and it seemed like the moment he'd slid into position that he felt the need to move again.

[identity profile] doc-holi.livejournal.com 2011-10-21 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
This MRI, thanks to the Committee's funding, was faster than a normal one, but it wasn't exactly lightning either.

After rubbing an eye, she wondered if he would leave once the test was done, whether or not he was concerned about the results. Their last meeting didn't go very well. At all.

More importantly, she didn't know if she wanted him to leave once it was done... No, she didn't. She was terrified he would, though. Even more scared that he would keep his eyes away from her and be silent if he stayed.

She glanced back to his weapons and shades... and frowned.
sixthdeadliest: One... (Sad)

LOL. STEAL HIS WEAPONS, HOLIDAY.

[personal profile] sixthdeadliest 2011-10-21 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Three or four more songs passed, and his mind started to wander. It really was quite dull just lying there.

He debated whether or not to leave once it was over. He needed to hear the results, but that would mean staying with her. And he already knew how uncomfortable he made her.

He sighed, listening to the latest tune with only slight interest. Well, it was going to end sooner or later. He'd better make a decision fast.

SHE'S NOT THAT CRAZY... YET

[identity profile] doc-holi.livejournal.com 2011-10-21 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
She had finished everything that needed to be done for the time being. All that was left now was to wait and think. She really didn't like to think lately. Not about all of this.

No matter what she told him now, she knew that she wouldn't be able to get through to him. Screaming at him hadn't worked. Smiling at him hadn't worked. Trying to comfort him hadn't worked. Did he really believe she had been lying about it? She was the one that had screamed it to him!

Her head dropped and she rubbed her eyes again. She was so tired. Few more minutes and he'd be done. AND HE COULD DO WHATEVER HE WANTED TO DO. And she wouldn't say anything about it.
sixthdeadliest: One... (Sad)

YET BEING THE KEY WORD.

[personal profile] sixthdeadliest 2011-10-21 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
As the test finally came to an end, he raised his hands to remove the headphones as the table slid back out of the machine. Instead of getting up immediately, he sat with his long legs dangling over the edge and brushing the floor.

He glanced up at her for a moment. "Do you mind if I wait for results? I'd like to know...how it's progressing."

He was struggling to keep the neutral tone. He was just so tired and beaten down. It had been a long week.

OR IS IT? >> THINK ABOUT THAT

[identity profile] doc-holi.livejournal.com 2011-10-21 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
She looked to him, almost in shock, but she was a little too tired for that. She did give him a little smile, though. "That's fine with me."

That was perfectly fine with her. He may ignore her or something, but... he was still there. That meant that there was a chance, right? Some way to put things back together again?

... For some reason, she doubted it. She had no idea what to say or where to start. Especially some way that wouldn't end in another fight. Maybe she should busy herself with something...?
sixthdeadliest: One... (Sad)

[personal profile] sixthdeadliest 2011-10-21 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
He kept glancing up in her direction as he waited. The amount of awkward surrounding them was knee-deep.

He stared at the floor some before muttering, "I'm sorry about last week."

It was pathetic. A poor attempt to show how grateful he truly was that she was willing to put up with him. Even if he wasn't her Six.

[identity profile] doc-holi.livejournal.com 2011-10-21 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
She looked up to him again, this time with surprise. He, HE, was apologizing? Six never apologized. Not about personal things like that. She thought that would've been a trait of him now, too.

Secondly. "That wasn't your fault. There's nothing for you to apologize for. I'm the one that's sorry."

Her eyes went back to her feet at her words. She couldn't look at him, much less in the eyes. Throughout the past week, she had gotten nowhere. So far, she had been absolutely no help to him during the one time he needed it most. It was killing her. He had done so much for her and she couldn't do anything in return. This was killing her.
sixthdeadliest: Don't get used to it. (No sunglasses (sad))

[personal profile] sixthdeadliest 2011-10-21 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
"I yelled at you when you were just trying to help," he said flatly. "I hardly think that's 'nothing'."

How would his other self have dealt with it? He'd assumed apology, but she'd looked so shocked by it.

[identity profile] doc-holi.livejournal.com 2011-10-21 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
"I yelled, too," she said, before finally glancing a look his way. "You have every right to yell at me. Still do."

She kind of wanted him to be like that. Wanted him to be angry with her, at least. She wasn't doing her job and it was, by no means, fair to him. He had to have known that. She was simply too "brilliant", so said most world leaders, to let someone she cared about go through this when she owed them so much.

"Why? Salazar's machine is the root cause of it."

He wished that Rex hadn't smashed it. Perhaps one more time would've fixed things. Though the possibility of a coma wasn't a welcome one.

Total amnesia though...that wouldn't have been so bad. Then he could've completely started from scratch without every bad memory and regret.

He shook his head to clear it. No. Best not to go down that road. He'd be even more useless to them had that happened.
