Musebox #2 [CLOSED]

Who: Holiday and Six
What: Being STUPID AWKWARD with the hope of some fluff
When: week after #1
Where: Providence HQ
Warnings: Spoilers for "Six Minus Six" up in here.

She had to get this over with. After the first three days (two of which, she was awake for the entire time), she had known that she was right in the first place. There was nothing she could do. It was over. He probably really was gone.

To know anything for certain, there were still some pieces that she was missing... Pieces that only Six had.

After a firm peptalk, she decided to give him a call or something. Beep his communicator or... something. Just as she was about to do it, though, her face met her hands again. How could she do this to him? First of all, she hadn't so much as seen the man since.... whatever his last visit was. Second, she couldn't turn around again and tell him that she wanted the old Six back. She did, but she by no means wanted to force it out of him against his will.

... She still didn't know what he wanted with his life. She knew he wanted the other Six to come back, but was that only for them or was that for him, too?

She sighed. She needed to do this. You can do this... She was so tired and it was already getting late. Maybe he'd be asleep...

AHA! LEAVE A MESSAGE. Brilliant. Sort of.

Alright, after another sigh, she leaves a message on his comm-link. "Six, if you're willing, there's some more tests I'd like to run on you. Only if you're up for it, though. Just come by at any time." And she killed the feed.

And yeah, any time was fine. She was going to be up for a while.

She did know to stop sounding so hopeless around him all the time... He just seemed like the only one that would listen. Seems she would learn this lesson after the first two or three times.

She does give him a kind of half smile, though, before looking away again.

He sighed before starting to talk quietly. "...I still want to remember. Even with all the frustration he went through, I imagine he had a lot of good memories with you and Rex."

She glanced back to him at his words, before smiling back to the floor. "We did... And I'm glad that you want it back."

He nodded his head after only a brief moment's hesitation. "I've done a lot of things I'm not proud of. It's sort of nice to know that I didn't go on to do even more of those."

Her eyes looked back to him in a smile. "You didn't seem to regret things her. You've always worked to do the right thing, no matter what it was."

And she was proud of him because of it. Especially after seeing where he came from.

His lips twitched for a second before he refocused on the floor. "It's easier to just do what I've always done."

But he knew that wasn't going to work here. It was one heck of a steep climb and intimidating to boot.

"I just want for you whatever you want. You know that much."

If he wanted the easier route, then she'd back him. If he wanted Providence, then she'd back him. If he wanted to join the circus, she'd be confused, but she'd back him.

"...I want to be someone worth respecting. It's just hard."

Not that hard work scared him. Nothing had ever come easily to him. But this was strange and completely new territory. That added an entirely new level of difficulty.

She frowned to him, but at least she was still looking towards him. "I know... I won't be going anywhere."

Even after that whatever it was last week, she had not even considered turning her back on him after everything. She didn't do it then, she wasn't about to do it now or anytime soon.

Six glanced at her out of the corner of his eye. "...Thanks."

He straightened as the computer beeped, announcing that it had finished processing the images.

She almost smiled, then heard the beeping and hopped off of the table to take a look.

It took her a minute to look over the scans, but she ultimately frowned to them... but she looked them over and over again a few more times, just in case.

Six had gone to retrieve his sunglasses and start putting away his weapons as she reviewed the results. However, seeing her frown wasn't good.

"Bad?"

"Not bad," she said, before adding, "Not good." There was no change. Never any changes. If they were making progress, it was either going to come back suddenly, like it often did, or a long time from now.

Maybe both. Maybe neither.

She sighed, saving the scans to her hard drive. She still needed these. There had to be another way.

Six sighed, sticking the knife back in his shoe. "So the same."

Lovely.

"...Are you all sure I can't kill Salazar?"

She almost smirks, wondering if he's serious or no-... Yeah, he's serious. She actually does smirk. "I'm pretty sure Rex wouldn't be too happy about that."

Still looking at the screen, though. She'll be staring at this for hours.

Six sighed. "Right. Don't wanna upset the kid."

He still wasn't too sure about Rex, but he knew the kid had been important to the other Six. Best not to poke a potential hornet's nest.

She could hear the doubt in his tone. "You'll figure Rex out in no time. He's a good kid," on a whim, she looked over to him, "You raised him well."

She helped, but he imprinted a lot of his morals on the boy.

"Me?" he asked incredulously. "I doubt I had that much influence on him."

...Okay, so the kid had called him his father figure, but he really couldn't see any version of himself as the fatherly type.

Hey, Holiday. What's that knocking on your temporal lobe? It may just be an idea!

"There at last, you two were a whole lot a like. Almost like twins, whenever Rex would decide to be mature about something. I think you'd be surprised the influence you made on him."

So, it proved to just keep an eye on Rex during his 'better' moments. It was things that Six would do.

"...So during the take down of that first EVO he was like I was?"

That was...surprising.

"You mean the time where you stole a car?" She still found that amusing. "I'm not sure, but he was sure lecturing like you were once you two got back."

"...It was...different."

Had he really sounded like that? Though first getting lectured by Rex and then Knight, the man he still saw as his real partner, had not been in the least bit enjoyable.

She gave a sigh, looking away from the scans again and back to him. "Just don't worry about all that right now. You'll figure it out."

"All right."

He finished collecting his weapons and started towards the door. He paused before opening it.

"Holiday, try and get some sleep?"

So at least one of them wasn't a zombie.

"I will later," she answered him, looking back to the scans.

She would. At some point. Like tomorrow. Or the next day might be better. She had to figure this out and every second she was resting were seconds wasted.

Six would make a killing in showbiz.

TALK ABOUT. He'd be the killer in all the scary movies, but he'd really kill the actors. XD

Pretty sure murdering fellow actors gets you fired.
