Musebox #1 [CLOSED]

Who: Holiday and Six

Warnings: Spoilers for "Six Minus Six" and MAYBE "Lions And Lambs"

Holiday walked back into the tower after the LONGEST couple of days she ever had. Okay, not the longest, but it was far too close for comfort.

She set the chart she had carried in with her down on the desk, already turning her attention to the computer screen. So, Caesar's invention hadn't worked... twice. It was good that her sister was cured, because Six had just become her new project. She had to get the other Six back. This one was driving her nuts... even if he could be sweet... when he wanted to be.

She sighed, staring at the computer, but not sitting down. At least, he wasn't physically hurt... That was a good plus.

Didn't mean that she couldn't worry...

The response was immediate. No pause to ponder what his other self might've said.

"A dog attacking."

That was quicker than the first, but she's not surprised by that fact.

Alright. The dog thing was curious though. She clicked the next one. "And this (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bc/Rorschach_blot_02.jpg) one?"

Six stared for several minutes, trying to reason something out. Because good lord, she was going to be upset with him if he blurted out the first thing that popped into his head.

"Pass," he said after a few minutes of silence.

Pass? Who passed? It was Rorschach. You don't just pass.

... He was thinking something again, wasn't he?

ALRIGHT, FINE. THEY'LL PASS. But she'll come back to it later.

"Right..." And she clicked to the next one. "Try this one (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/82/Rorschach_blot_03.jpg/800px-Rorschach_blot_03.jpg) then."

...Oh God.

"Pass."

He eyed her suspiciously before turning his eyes back to the screen. He straightened up in his seat.

Alright, she's going to glare at him a little bit now.

"How about this (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2d/Rorschach_blot_07.jpg) one?"

Answer wisely.

Oh good. Back to neutral. He relaxed his position again.

"Broken tank tread."

He glanced at the readouts the electrodes were taking. He wasn't a stupid man but it was ancient Greek to him.

Broken tank-? Huh... It kinda does. Alright. At least, he answered it.

With a relieved sigh, she moved on to the next (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/74/Rorschach_blot_06.jpg) one. "Hm?"

He tilted his head to one side. "I don't know. A guitar of some kind?"

She took a peak at the slide and shrugged. Eh. Close enough.

And then she moved to the next one. "And this (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b7/Rorschach_blot_09.jpg/647px-Rorschach_blot_09.jpg)?"

"Pair of Chinese dragons."

Nice and safe answer. Well, the bottom of the blot didn't quite fit but the yellow parts did.

Good. They were going good. He wasn't skipping half of them anymore. Or talking about Tahiti. Good.

She clicked it again. "What about this (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/32/Rorschach_blot_10.jpg/751px-Rorschach_blot_10.jpg)?"

"...Pass."

It was safer territory than the other two, but he wasn't going to step in that minefield. One would've approved.

He frowned. He'd been trying to contact his mentor for the past few days to get the man's input but he still had yet to reach him. Perhaps One had dipped his hand into the jobs list for something that required his specific touch.

... Her shoulders slumped. Seriously. This again. Really.

"Alright," she managed to say with some calm, "Let's try this (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/54/Rorschach_blot_05.jpg) one."

Does he know that she's going back to these eventually?

"A bat," Six answered promptly.

He didn't know she was going to return to the earlier ones he'd passed on. At least she wasn't forcing him to answer.

And the last one!

She clicked to the next slide. "And this (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/43/Rorschach_blot_08.jpg/689px-Rorschach_blot_08.jpg)?"

Six is about to get a rude surprise, then.

Six sighed. "Some kind of vase."

He looked away from the screen, reaching up in order to remove the leads. Rorschach tests usually had only ten blots, right?

On most of them, yes, but subjects usually don't skip a third of them.

Alright, here we go. Before he even gets his hand up, she's talking. "Let's try this one (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/32/Rorschach_blot_10.jpg/751px-Rorschach_blot_10.jpg) again."

Answer this time, please.

Six frowned. "I invoke my Fifth Amendment right."

He wasn't going to play, Holiday.

...

"You invo-... It's a test!... An ink blot test! There isn't a wrong answer!"

For God's sake, Six, at least make something up. This isn't a hearing.

Six crossed his arms, frowning deeply and forgetting the electrodes for the moment.

"In theory there isn't a wrong answer. In reality you have the potential for a Catch-22 situation."

He pointed at the ink blot. "If I tell you what first popped into my mind, you'll get angry at me. If I make something up and that gives away I'm lying..." He pointed at the results readout. "...you'll get mad at me because it wouldn't be an honest representation of my thought process."

... Blink... And a big sigh, as she closes her eyes. So, he was still thinking all of that. That's just terrific.

What to do, Doc? Make a call. It's not rare that people pass on some slides, but... she really needed everything she could get out of him.

So, she rubbed her eyes. "I'd like to have them all, Six. Or, just, a little bit more."

She took a deep breath in, keeping her eyes closed. "I won't get mad."

Six growled for a moment before turning his head away to glare at the window leading to the Petting Zoo. "Fine. Slide three was a pair in bed after a bout of sex. Slide four was a pair of women leaning in to start making out. Slide eight was a couple meeting up beneath the Eiffel Tower, probably on their way for a private rendezvous. Satisfied?"

The first one shot her eyebrows up. The second shot her eyebrows WAY up. No wonder he passed. She wasn't mad. A little surprised, ESPECIALLY TO THE SECOND (If it was any other man, she wouldn't, not Six, though.), but not mad.

The last one had her a little confused, though. "Eiffel Tower? Wait. Why didn't you say that one?" She looked back at the clipboard, again.

"Because with all the fireworks around them, it was probably going to get down and dirty very quickly," Six stated flatly.
